Summer brings changes to our routines and diets. Here is how to keep your dental health on track without missing out on the fun:

  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: When it’s hot, your mouth dries out faster. Saliva is your mouth’s natural defense against cavities! Opt for water over sugary sports drinks or lemonade to keep your teeth protected.
  • Pack a “Go-Bag” for Your Smile: Between camping trips, beach days, and spontaneous weekends away, routines can fly out the window. Toss a travel-sized toothbrush, floss, and sugar-free gum into your backpack or beach bag. That way, if you’re enjoying boardwalk snacks or campfire s’mores, you can easily clean your teeth on the fly!
  • Beware the Frozen Treats: We love a good popsicle or ice cream cone, but try to enjoy them in one sitting rather than grazing on them all afternoon. This prevents your teeth from being exposed to constant “sugar baths.” (And remember: never chew on ice cubes—your enamel will thank you!)

Summer Activity Checklist

Make the most of the sunny days ahead! How many of these can you tick off before September?

  • Try a new local ice cream flavor (and rinse with water after!)
  • Go for a scenic bike ride or hike
  • Pack a picnic with tooth-friendly snacks like cheese, nuts, and crunchy veggies
  • Upgrade your toothbrush (perfect time for a fresh start!)
  • Take a family photo showcasing your best, confident smile

From all of us at the clinic, we hope your summer is filled with laughter, relaxation, and plenty of reasons to smile.

Keep shining!
